The Windsor Spitfires are about to head on another two-game road trip Saturday and they haven't seen a win since they beat Barrie at the WFCU Centre on Oct. 18.
It's only fitting they head to the Molson Centre to face a 7-6-1-0 Colts team to try and snap the three game skid that saw them drop to 5-7-0-1.
Head Coach Trevor Letowski tells AM800 News a 3-2 loss at the hands of the league best Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds Thursday night isn't an indication of the teams play.
"We take a lot of positives from the Soo game and we feel like that's our identity as a team," says Letowski. "We out worked them and worked hard on the fore check, hard on our tracking and those are the things that we need to do to be successful. If we do that on the road we're going to be fine."
Winger Chris Playfair, who scored the game winner against Barrie earlier this month, says the teams leaving everything it has on the ice.
"That's definitely been frustrating for us the past few games, not getting the wins we need, but I think against the Soo we played a lot better than we did on the weekend," says Playfair. "I think if we keep that going and just bear down a little we're going to get some wins."
Defencman Connor Corcoran says running into a couple hot goalies down the stretch doesn't help, but that's not an excuse.
"We got a lot of shots on net, I felt we dominated for the most part that game," says Corcoran. "Obviously their goalie played really good, but short memory, get it out of your head and focus on the next one in Barrie and hopefully we'll get a win there."
Windsor heads into Barrie's Molson Centre to take on the Colts Saturday night — puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
