The trial of a Windsor defence lawyer charged with obstructing justice is underway.
Paul Esco pleaded not guilty to two counts of attempting to obstruct justice stemming from an alleged incident on March 7, 2017.
Esco is accused of approaching a witness in a case and asking him to change his story.
In March 2017, Esco was representing a man in an unlawful entry case and Brad Rosehart, a crown witness, was scheduled to testify in the trial.
Rosehart testified Monday in Superior Court that Esco approached him and asked him to testify that he didn't remember anything.
Rosehart said he wasn't going to lie in court and reported the interaction to police.
According to Rosehart, Esco replied, 'it's not a lie, just say you don't remember.'
But during cross-examination by Esco's lawyer Andrew Bradie, Bradie said that Rosehart had suggested receiving payment by getting an envelop of cash.
Rosehart replied that's what he saw on TV, but he also added that he wouldn't have taken the payment.
Bradie also pointed to Rosehart's criminal record of break and enter, assault with a weapon and uttering threats, as someone who knows the system.
The trial is slated to last three to five days.
