The goal was to raise 250,000.

It's $225,000 and still counting.

Volunteers for the Windsor Goodfellows Newspaper Drive are still optimistic it will reach its goal of $250,000.

Over three days from November 24-26, volunteers were out selling newspapers at major intersections.

Chair Bruce Tait says some returns are still coming in and even though it has never raised $250,000,  it is hoping this year will be the year.

The money raised from the sales are used for the annual Christmas box, shoe and boot program, breakfast programs as well as the local food bank.
