The Ontario Hockey League has handed out three suspensions – and two of them involve players from the Saginaw Spirit.
Goalie Ivan Prosvetov has been suspended five games while defenceman Justin Murray will miss the next four games for the Spirit.
Both are the result of incidents that happened in Saturday’s game when Saginaw defeated the Guelph Storm 4-3 in overtime to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
Prosvetov, 20, was given an automatic game misconduct for batting a puck into the stands at a stoppage of play. Murray, 20, was assessed a game misconduct for a checking to the head penalty.
Game 3 of the Western Conference Final between the Spirit and Storm is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday in Guelph.
The OHL has also suspended Anthony Salinitri of the Oshawa Generals for six games.
Salinitri, a 21-year-old forward from Windsor, received the suspension after receiving a roughing penalty for a check to the head of an Ottawa player in Sunday’s 5-1 victory by the 67’s.
Ottawa leads the best-of-seven Eastern Conference Final 3-0 and Game 4 is Wednesday in Oshawa.
