WINDSOR — A Windsor food bank worker is 'buzzing' after learning she will be featured on a box of Cheerios cereal.
General Mills and Cheerios have decided to feature five food bank workers with Food Banks Canada as part of their Olympian series.
One of those workers featured, is Lynda Davidson who is the food bank co-ordinator at the Unemployed Help Centre.
"I'm on a box of Cheerios. It is unbelievable, I still can't believe it. It is so unreal to me that my face is on a box of Cheerios," she said.
The cereal boxes will be a limited edition and won't be sold in stores, but Davidson is receiving one in the mail.
Davidson has worked at the Unemployed Help Centre for 15 years and says she loves her job.
She says helping the community and people is her passion.
"I am very humbled, I have the best job, it is so rewarding," says Davidson. "I never look for any recognition, I just really enjoy helping my community and helping people."
As part of the campaign, Cheerios donated $500,000 and General Mills donated $600,000 worth of food products to Food Banks Canada.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit Windsor-Essex, the Unemployed Help Centre has adjusted its services to meet the demand which includes offering drive-thru food banks.
Davidson says on Friday May 1st, the drive-thru saw 209 vehicles in a three-hour period.
