The trial of a Windsor family doctor charged with sexual assault is underway.
At the start of the three-week trial, 45-year old Bassam Mohamed El-Tatari pleaded not guilty to six counts of sexual assault against six different women.
The charges stem from alleged incidents from 2009 to 2015.
The first complainant took the stand and testified she visited the doctor in his office on Howard Ave. for what she thought was a prescription refill but then learned it was for a physical.
After the physical, she testified the doctor asked her for a hug which she said was not unusual.
"He always gave me a hug good-bye," she said.
At one point, she testified Dr. El-Tatari said to her 'do you like it when I hold you like this?"
But breaking down on the witness stand, she said during the hug he placed his hand on the side of her breast.
She told him it was making her uncomfortable, but she told the court, he didn't stop hugging her.
During cross examination, the defence pointed out discrepancies in her testimony to what she initially told police.
She acknowledged she may have been upset when she spoke to police.
