A thank-you from the Windsor-Essex County Humane Society.
The society is thanking the public after a successful "Strays On Street Corners" fundraiser.
Executive Director Melanie Coulter says close to $30,000 was raised last weekend.
"It was a great response that was actually about $5,000 more than we budgeted for which is perfect timing because we recently took in 10 puppies that we're treating for parvo and that is definitely coming in handy to assist with that," says Coulter.
The fundraiser was similar to the Goodfellow Paper drive, where volunteers were out in the community collecting donations.
Coulter says the fundraiser started in 2009.
"Essentially the first time we did it, we were undergoing our capital campaign to try and expand the shelter but since then we've continued it as a yearly campaign," says Coulter.
She says the money raised will support programs from the adoption program, cruelty investigations and medical care for animals that come into the shelter.
The campaign goal was $25,000.
