The head of the Windsor Essex Economic Development Corporation believes a report in the Huffington Post will help attract and retain business.
The "Huff-Po" ranking places Windsor at number 3 nation-wide for combined job opportunity and housing affordability.
The ranking puts Windsor just behind Regina Saskatchewan and Edmonton with a combined number of 80%.
WEEDC Chief Executive Stephen MacKenzie says this re-inforces a message they've been telling companies: "it's been part of our pitch, the fact that we have a robust job market demand for jobs, highly skilled jobs. Along with a very affordable housing situation it's a wonderful tool and to be able to have a 3rd party verification from the Huffington Post is even more valuable"
MacKenzie says just having a strong market in either jobs or housing isn't always enough.
He says the place it makes a difference is once the business case is solid and the community is on the short list. Then the 2nd half of the process starts and they ask what the affordability and other quality of life factors there are for employees and their families.
St. Catherines is at the bottom of the list.
