The Windsor-Essex County Humane Society is putting out a warning to dog owners in Essex County.
It says there have been reports of dogs that have gone missing and potentially stolen from the Harrow, McGregor and surrounding area.
"A handful of reports in a small area of dogs being lost recently and not found," says Melanie Coulter, executive director of the Windsor-Essex County Humane Society. "Then just yesterday, we received a report from someone who indicated they saw a dog that was attempted to be stolen."
She says the dogs were in the yards when they went missing but they were unattended.
"At this point, it is a pattern that we are concerned about and we wanted to make people aware. We would rather people err on the side of caution than lose their dog."
The OPP have been notified.
Coulter is asking people to keep an eye on their dogs while they outside.
