Current Associate Medical Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed will replace Dr. Gary Kirk on an acting basis effective June 7th.
The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has named its acting Medical Officer of Health.
Dr. Wajid Ahmed will take over for Dr. Gary Kirk on June 7th.
Dr. Ahmed is currently the Associate Medical Officer of Health.
He says he's looking forward to the opportunity.
"I'm excited to be nominated by the board and I am thankful to the board to nominating me for this position and I'm really looking forward to it, to serve the community in the best way I can," says Dr. Ahmed.
Dr. Kirk announced his resignation last month. He cited family reasons for his departure.
Dr. Kirk's last day is June 6th.
The health unit also named Theresa Marentette as acting Chief Executive Officer.
Marentette is the Director of Health Protection.
