The City of Windsor is looking for ideas and opinions on energy use.
It is currently developing a Community Energy Plan to provide a direction for city residents on energy usage and its economic impact.
Windsor residents, businesses and industries spent $842-million a year on electricity costs, natural gas and transportation fuel in 2014.
"80% of that (money) leaves the City of Windsor so it provides no economic benefit for the city," says Supervisor of Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change Karina Richters.
Residents are being asked to fill out a 10 minute survey on-line on the city's website.
She says Windsor residents also use more energy than the Ontario average mostly due to the aging buildings and the number of single-detached homes.
Richters hopes to have a draft plan before council early next year.
