The Windsor Detroit Bridge Authority is making a major announcement tomorrow.
Officials with the Gordie Howe International Bridge project are calling the media together tomorrow morning.
It's expected the chosen proponent will be named that will design, build and finance the $4.5-billion crossing from Windsor to Detroit.
That consortium will have a few months to present their design and get set to build.
The project was first proposed in 2004 - and it was five years later when the first land purchase was made in Windsor to start the work.
In 2012 - then Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Governor Rick Snyder signed the crossing agreement to enable the building of the Canadian-financed and publicly-owned bridge.
A U.S. Presidential Permit was granted the following year and the Bridge Authority was set up to manage it.
Work has been underway on the Canadian and American plazas for a couple of years already.
Construction for the actual bridge is expected to begin this fall.
