A Windsor city councillor is hoping his council colleagues have a change of heart.
Chris Holt wants council to re-consider a decision made in December 2015, where council shot down a request to install a pedestrian activated crosswalk on Wyandotte Street East at Chilver.
He says he'll be filing a notice of motion at the February 26th council meeting, calling on council to reverse its decision and install the crosswalk.
Holt says area residents and businesses want something done to improve safety in the area.
"It's still a very high priority for the people in Walkerville," says Holt. "I hear it all the time like that is the new downtown intersection right there. They're very concerned, they're very worried about pedestrian safety especially now. Walkerville is getting more and more and more popular."

Holt says he's willing to use his ward funds for the crosswalk.
"I asked for it in my enhanced capital budget," says Holt. "Unfortunately the funding wasn't there so I'm using my ward funds to move it forward so hopefully I get the support of my fellow councillors on February 26."
There was a fatal collision at the intersection in 2005.
Also two people where struck in 2015. One had critical injuries.
The Olde Walkerville Residents Association has started a petition calling on the city to install the crosswalk.
