A Windsor city councillor has put up an election sign in hopes of sparking discussions on the closure of Windsor's two hospitals.
Instead of an orange, blue, red or green election sign, Ward 4 Councillor Chris Holt posted a teal signing stating 'Don't Close Met and Ouellette.'
Holt is disturbed that none of the local candidates has taken a stance on the issue given the impact will be felt for generations to come.
He says for him, the provincial election comes down to one question.
"I'm hoping that the candidates when they come canvassing at my door will see it and will be prepared to answer some questions about whether or not they support the consolidation of our two hospitals and moving to them out to an agricultural site out beyond the airport," says Holt.
Under the health care restructuring plan, the Met and Ouellette Campuses will close and an acute care mega hospital will open on County Rd 42 and Concession 9 to serve the entire region.
The issue still has to go before Windsor's planning committee to rezone the land from agricultural to institutional.
