The City of Windsor is beginning to move into Phase 2 of truck routing throughout the city.
During the most recent Environment, Transportation and Public Safety Meeting, the committee was presented with a report on the an update of the truck route study.
The report was received for information by the committee.
The City is conducting the study to modernize the truck route network to adapt to changing city requirements, as there are city streets that trucks are not approved to drive down.
The study is being led by Arcadis, an experienced company in goods movement and truck route studies in Ontario.
The project started in July 2023 and is projected to finish by spring 2024.
There will be three phases to the study, with Phase 1 identifying study needs and opportunities.
Multiple meetings and online engagement sessions gathered input from the public, business areas, and other municipalities during Phase 1.
The City will begin to move into Phase 2, which is drafting the development of the truck route network, and lastly Phase 3 will see recommendations for the final route.
