Some carpentry students at St. Joseph's High School in Windsor are putting their hands to good use.
They are building four cabins to help underprivileged youth in the Kiwanis Sunshine Point Camp in Harrow.
The Grade 11 and 12 students are part of the Construction Academy.
"They pre-built the walls of the cabin so they are delivering them out pre-assembled and they are bolting the walls down," says Dan Inverarity, president of the Kiwanis Club of Windsor.
"The pads were installed last week, the concrete pads, the old ones were just on cement blocks so every year they had to jack them up and straighten them up and it was a disaster. They are about 80 years old so I hope these new cabins will last just as long."
He says it is a win for the camp but also for the students who are able to get out and do actual work in the field.
This past weekend, Double AA Metal Roofing also donated a free metal roof, worth $20,000, for the camp's pavilion.
The camp has been open since 1947 and has seen 47,000 kids take part.
