A Windsor company has been fined 150-thousand dollars following a fatal industrial accident nearly two years ago.
The Ministry of Labour reports Vollmer Incorporated pleaded guilty in court on Monday.
Vollmer was installing new electrical equipment and cable for new machinery in a plant on Kew Drive in November 2016.
Court was told workers were pulling lengths of heavy electrical cable onto the roof.
During a break, a worker identified as Rob Morneau, fell through a skylight to the concrete floor below — he was taken to hospital where he died.
The ministry says there no guardrails, protective coverings or other fall protection installed or implemented on the skylights.
A provincial regulation requires workers use and be trained in the use of a fall protection system when working at heights.
The judge also imposed a 25% victim fine surcharge on Vollmer.
