The Windsor Spitifres are the presenting sponsor of the Junior Pro-Am at Roseland Golf Club today, part of the MacKenzie Tour's Windsor Championship golf tournament.
Florida Panthers head coach, Bob Boughner, Spitfires general manager Warren Rychel and Spitifres assistant coach Mike Weber were at the course first thing this morning to welcome participants.
Speaking on AM800's The Morning Drive, Boughner says the players on the MacKenzie Tour are really good.
"We got to play with the pros yesterday and it doesn't matter how old you are, it's pretty amazing to sit by these guys and watch their shots and you know see how hard they work," says Boughner. "I think that's a great example for these kids when they get out here today to watch these guys and how prepared and professional and how good they are."
Today is also a final day for the pros to get in practice rounds at Ambassador as the Windsor Championship starts with the first tee-times at 7:30am tomorrow.
Boughner says it's a great time to be in Windsor-Essex.
"I get to stay here into the middle of August so, it's nice to always come home with family and friends and I get to catch up with a lot of people," says Boughner.
Tonight, it's the Links and Rinks Kick-Off Party at the St Clair Centre for the Arts and it will feature, amoung other things, a discussion with Boughner, Maple Leafs assistant coach, DJ Smith, and NHL referee Garrett Rank, who is also playing in the tournament.
