A Windsor business owner has purchased a well-known downtown building for $3.4-million.
Owner of Bettermade Cabinets Vern Myslichuk is hoping to put a little spark back into the city core by renovating the old Security building at 267 Pelissier St. into a residential and commercial building.
"It is an older building, built in 1927, nice architectural features on the outside, it is a handsome looking building," says Myslichuk.
Right now, the 10-storey building consists mostly of office space, but he would like to convert the upper floors into residential units for professionals and business people.
As part of the plans, Myslichuk says he envisions a building with residential units in the upper floors and a grocery store or pharmacy on the main level.
"I really believe that in a short period of time in the next five years, that will be the place to be because everything will be convenient, that is the attraction for me," he says.
Planning for renovations is underway although Myslichuk says he hasn't decided on the breakdown of how much will be residential and how much will be commercial.
Myslichuk is known for purchasing older buildings and fixing them up including his purchase of the historic Low Martin house in Walkerville in 2012, which he now lives in.
