A Windsor business owner is throwing her hat in the ring to run for the Liberals in Windsor West.
Melinda Munro, owner of Munro Strategic Perspective, a consulting firm, is seeking the nomination to be the Liberal candidate in the riding in the upcoming federal election.
She was nominated by city councillor Rino Bortolin, a long time federal Liberal riding association member.
She says she is running because Canada is in a time of critical decision making saying our largest trading partner is acting unpredictably.
She points out the federal Liberal government has invested $22-million in affordable housing, $5-million in the auto parts supply chain and $32-million in climate change and flood mitigation and adaptation.
Munro says the Liberals are gaining momentum in Windsor-West and she wants to be apart of it.
"We've been very successful since the last election of increasing the membership of the Windsor-West Liberals from about 90 to over 1000," says Munroe. "So when the riding association calls the nomination meeting everyone of those members will get invited to come and my job will be to convince them that I'm the right person to represent the Liberals," says Munro.
She feels her support from her Liberal colleagues is growing.
"I've had over 100 people support me just from in the last 12 hours from across Canada," says Munroe. "Now obviously I need them to support me in Windsor-West but I think it's really really cool when important members of our community and people in Canada from across Canada look at me and say that's someone who can represent the community well."

Munro says despite the party's struggles, she feels confident the Liberals will win the Windsor-West seat.
"As people say never count Justin Trudeau out," says Munro. "Certainly it's been a bit up and down lately as you would expect to happen in an election year but we have a really strong riding association here and we're committed to Liberal values and we think we can take this seat."
Munro came to Windsor in 2004 and her career has included 15 years as a trial lawyer and 15 years working in municipal government and the non-for-profit sector.
Hsiao d'Ailly has also put her name forward to represent the Liberals in Windsor-West.
She does not reside in Windsor but owns property in the city.
A date for the nomination meeting has not been set.
Windsor West NDP MP Brian Masse has already announced that he is seeking the nomination for the NDP for the riding.
Henry Lau and Rinku Shah have put their names forward for the Conservatives.
The Windsor-West Conservative Nomination meeting will take place on June 9th at 6pm at the Holiday Inn on Huron Church Road.
