Under the Cap and Trade program customers were able to apply for rebates, but Cap and Trade has been cancelled by the Ontario PCs
A Windsor business owner is confused over the future of a rebate program in Ontario for energy-efficient renovations.
Under the Cap and Trade program, customers were able to apply for rebates on some home upgrades, but the Cap and Trade program was cancelled earlier this week by the Ontario PC government.
There is now word that the rebate program for customers will be extended to allow some work orders to go through, but according to the owner of Sentry Windows and Doors in Windsor Ken Sherman, nothing has been confirmed.
Speaking on AM800's the TKO Show, Sherman says there has been a major breakdown in communication.
"It is like a tornado in the Wizard of Oz, everything is flying around, we don't know, the problem is that there is no communication between government, Green Ontario part of the government, the dealers and the customers."
He says everything is up in the air until something is confirmed.
"We are in limbo, we are in the twilight zone, we don't know why it is happening, we don't know how it is happening, we just don't know, we are doing our best to give our customers accurate information as much as possible."
Sherman says an extension to the program makes sense.
"I believe that there is an extension coming to the end of October which is phenomenal because that means everybody that we work with will be able to get their rebate on time and get installed on time."

The original deadline was August 31 to have work done.
