A 15-year-old Windsor boy has been sentenced to eight months in secure custody for stabbing his younger sister 12 times.
In August of 2016, a girl was taken to Windsor Regional Hospital with serious multiple stab wounds including a couple of deep lacerations to her leg.
She physically recovered.
Court heard there was an argument between the boy, who suffers from mental health issues, and his sister which led to the stabbing.
He was originally charged with attempted murder but pleaded guilty back in November to aggravated assault.
The boy's name can not be released due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
His lawyer Bob Dipietro admits the ordeal has been very difficult for the entire family.
After the term in custody, the boy will be on community supervision for 4 months and 6 months probation.
"The judge took into consideration 154 days of pretrial custody and took into account a number of factors," said Dipietro. "The seriousness of the offence, the number of wounds to the victim and the fact that he was doing well in custody."
The boy earned five credits while in custody and had 100% in math.
