The first Saturday shift in quite some timeĀ for Windsor Assembly Plant workers has been cancelled.
A Facebook post from the union from Friday afternoon reported the Aug. 29 shift has beenĀ cancelled, but didn't provide further details.
Union President Dave Cassidy tells AM800 News it's not clear what motivated the cancellation as of Saturday, but says it doesn't mean Saturday shifts are being eliminated.
The plant's midnight shift came to an end July 10 after 27 years of operation impacting between 1,300 and 1,400 employees.
Buyout and retirement packages were offered with approximately 700 workers taking the offer.
Cassidy says 500 of the plants approximately 6,400 workers are currently laid off.
