City officials are asking people to keep an eye on catch basins around their home.
Executive Director of Operations Dwayne Dawson says given a couple of snow falls and freezing temperatures, the snow has packed down on side streets turning into slush.
He wants residents to make sure the basins can take in the water as the snow thaws.
Blocked catch basins can lead to localized flooding.
Dawson says water ponding around the basin is also a concern.
"Without that ability to drain, you get a lot of surface ponding and when we do get some cold weather that surface water will turn to ice and we don't want that on our roads," he says.
