WFCU Credit Union has announced a new community engagement program.
It's called "Inspire - Building Better Communities" and features existing WFCU community investment initiatives and new special events.
Credit Union President and C.E.O. Eddie Francis says the new special events include a regional spelling bee, a speaker series, an Easter egg drop and community movie nights.
He says it also features the Detroit Lions Financial Literacy Program.
Francis says the special events are for all ages.
"This is about adding a significant amount of programs that touch upon as you can see every demographic possible," says Francis. "To help build a better community through inspire and as you can see through various initiatives, it's about making things happen in their communities that we serve."
He says the credit union continues to give back to the community.
"It's about making sure as a credit union, we're able to contribute in a positive way and touch up on every type of age group there possibly can," says Francis. "As our membership grows and as we continue to grow in Windsor-Essex and across Ontario we feel that this is a very wonderful program that allows us to give back to our community."
Francis says the spelling bee will be held in February while the Easter egg drop will happen on April 20, 2019.
He says the credit union is in talks with a well known individual from the United States to host the first speaker series.
