The WFCU Credit Union has released its 2018 Harold Hewitt Scholarship winners.
Twenty-eight students out of 484 submissions received a piece of $44,700.
The students range from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12.
Credit Union President and CEO Eddie Francis says he wishes he could congratulate every winner individually but he's please to help them learn the importance of, "financial literacy and helping them build their educational savings."
The Harold Hewitt Scholarship was inspired by the late Director on the WFCU Credit Union Board.
It began in 2001 as part of WFCU's annual community investment program.
To date over $172,700 in scholarships has been awarded to 269 youth who will collect $2,000 for their education when they complete high school.
This year's submission topic was, "imagine what our community will look like in 20-years from now."
Francis says based on their answers, the future is in good hands.
