The Windsor-Essex Therapeutic Riding Association is expanding thanks to a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
It has received a grant for $221,000 over three years to hire more staff which means expanding its youth program.
The programs helps people aged 15-29 who are facing barriers in their life by teaching them to ride and work with horses to gain confidence.
Right now, they service 200 clients a week and with the extra money, it will add another 175 clients.
"It will help us cover the cost of staff and personnel and caring for the horses in the program and there will be some money helping to get youth here," says Managing Director, Becky Mills.
Mills says there are waiting lists for some programs at the assocation and the grant will help reduce it.
