A westend business owner in Windsor is blaming road construction for a drop in sales.
Fred Bouzide owns Fred's Farm Fresh on Huron Church Rd. north of the EC Row Expressway.
Northwood St.,which runs behind his business, and the westbound off ramp from the EC Row Expressway to Huron Church Rd. have both closed for construction.
Since then, Bouzide says business has been down 10% and in six days, sales were down $10,000.
He says getting to his business is now inconvenient for many of his customers and he's some of them won't come back after the road construction is complete.
"I know most of my customers are going to come back when the road gets back to normal, because we do have a very good business and a very good trade, but how long is it going to be for and how many of the people who aren't really regular that come might stop at another store and say lets shop here from now on," says Bouzine.
He says construction work is progressing at a snail's pace.
"We aren't all perfect but for God's sake, when you have that much of a trade, a billion dollars coming down this road, you think they would work 24-hours a day and get it done, there is a lot of time sensitive merchandise going back and forth."
Bouzide says he would like to see businesses compensated for the low sales, even in terms of free advertising once road work is complete.
He adds that the detour signs are also spotty.
