A mosquito pool in Windsor-Essex has tested positive for the West Nile Virus.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reports its the first sign of the virus this year.
While there have been no human cases of West Nile Virus in 2017, the health unit says this positive test from a mosquito pool indicates the virus is still in the community.
Everyone is being reminded to protect themselves against mosquito bites by eliminating any standing water that could serve as a breeding ground. Also wear clothing that covers your skin and use insect repellents that contain DEET.
