Michigan is reporting its first death caused by the West Nile Virus.
The state Department of Health confirmed eight human cases of the virus on Thursday, including one death in Wayne County.
To date, birds from 21 counties across Michigan have tested positive for West Nile, along with mosquito pools in eight counties.
