A west end advocate is feeling abandoned after learning some boarded-up homes near the Ambassador Bridge will be demolished.
As AM800 news told you yesterday, part of the approval by the federal government to allow for the construction of a replacement span includes tearing down 40 homes.
Terry Kennedy lives on Baby St. and says everything is moving too quickly for his liking.
"When you have 15,000 people literally being abandoned by your city council, there is a problem."
He says it feels like the city is giving up.
"You try and grab at the straws that you have been dealt with at the moment, ok we have until Monday or Tuesday. This is how the Ambassador Bridge operates, we have pennies and they have billions," he says.
Kennedy says he's going nowhere even if he was offered a half a million dollars for his property.
Heavy construction equipment showed up on the properties near Indian Rd this week.
Mayor Drew Dilkens says since Ottawa issued the order, the city must comply.
The city could ask for a judicial review to delay the demolition, but he says there would be zero chance of winning.
