A wedding reception gone wrong.
Chatham-Kent police report a 30-year-old Chatham man is up against assault and mischief charges after allegedly getting into a fight at a wedding reception last night.
Police report around 11pm on Saturday at a banquet hall in the municipality, one of the guests was drunk and upset after getting into an argument with another guest.
According to police, the man stormed out and slammed a glass door behind him — shattering the glass. Police say the suspect then tried to get into his vehicle, but another guest stopped him from getting behind the wheel.
That's when a fight broke out. Police say a number of other wedding guests jumped in to try to break things up.
Officers responding to the scene report finding the suspect hiding in the bushes.
The accused was released from police custody after sobering up and is set for a court date on October 3. Police have not released a name of the accused.
