It doesn't look like the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board is going to follow in the footsteps of the Greater Essex County District School Board when it comes to a boycott of the Caboto Club.
Catholic Board Chair, Barb Holland says the issue of booking the Italian club for events has not come up, despite the controversy over Caboto's men-only policy for voting board members.
The issue gained traction earlier this year when Premier Kathleen Wynne cancelled an event at the Caboto Club after learning about the men-only policy.
"This board really has no position, says Holland. "It has not come up as a discussion item. I think the general consensus would be that we need to let them have time to work through this issue on their own."
Holland says "it doesn't impact our board severely because we don't use the Caboto for a lot of functions. Most of our graduations are held at the WFCU Centre because of the sheer size that we need."
The public school board voted unanimously at its March 20th meeting to stop booking the club for events, beginning next school year, because of the policy that only allows men to sit on the Caboto board as voting members.
