The Windsor based organization, WE Trans Support, is moving to a larger space to grow its services.
Executive Director Jayce Carver says the agency has seen quick growth since opening its doors in April of 2018 in downtown Windsor.
Carver says it's important to offer services for transgender and LGBT people in this region.
She says when they started offering counselling services they needed more privacy than the former office had.
"We really wanted to be able to provide a lot of separation between the professional services and the community centre that's still very much needed in our community."
Carver says members of the local trans community shouldn't need to drive two hours for services.
"For trans identified people and even queer folks having to find specialists that provide those services, they're usually driving to London or to Toronto when they should be able to get those services right here at home."
She says the trans population is often underestimated.
"There is more people not willing to be out than are out. So everybody thinks oh you're such a small population. But we've had 3720 visits in a year and a half for services and supports to our centre So obviously the demand for services to be here and local and accessible is there."
Carver says they're actively seeking a partnership and looking for grants to bring in more health care services.
As of October 1, WE Trans Support will be operating out of its new space at 1435 Tecumseh Rd. E.
