Officials at the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre are looking to get to the root problem of concerns raised about the water current in the 70 metre pool.
During the Eastern Swimming Championship hosted by the city in April 2018, Swim Canada voiced concerns about the current flow in the pool.
Centre Manager Jennifer Knights says national swim officials indicated the 'flow rate' could create an unequal playing field depending on which lap the swimmer is in.
Tests were done during the championships and the pool passed with the current at the surface, so concerns shifted to the current 'below the surface'
She says the city is committed to identifying the problem and fixing it for the next Swim Canada event scheduled for 2020.
"They [Swim Canada] are aware of our timelines for taking a look at the problem," she says. "Our initial timeline was to assess in August when we are planning a maintenance shutdown."
But Knights indicated pool experts will be in the city in June to look at the problem and possible solutions.
Dive Provincials are scheduled for this weekend at the downtown facility which has not been affected.
