A long stretch of summer-like weather through the weekend could be ideal for boating.
Many boaters will be looking for a few last trips out on the water.
Ian Gilson with the Canadian Safe Boating Council is encouraging late season trips, saying it's a good opportunity for boaters to take advantage of docks they might not normally be able to set sail from.
"Some of the most crowded anchorages during the summer are open and available to just drop a hook and sit back and enjoy some warm temperatures," says Gilson. "It's a great time to continue to boat."
While Gilson says it's a great time for boaters to hit the water, there are precautions that need to be kept in mind with fewer people setting sail.
"You have to keep in mind there's a few extra precautionary measures," says Gilson. "Number one is there are fewer boaters out there to render assistance should you run into problems."
Gilson also strongly recommending boaters check the forecast.
Despite the sunny and hot weather the region is experiencing now, Gilson says weather in the Fall can be unpredictable.
"It's more important that we get people to check the marine weather forecast to make sure that they're not going to get out there and then all of a sudden the skies turn and they're going to wish they hadn't ventured out in the first place," says Gilson.
Gilson also reminds boaters to dress accordingly. It may be warm on dry land, but should they wind up in the water, temperatures could be much colder.
