It's the second time around for the Michael C. Rohrer Heart and Soul Walk for cardiac treatment.
Hundreds of supporters gathered to celebrate the life of the Tecumseh councillor at Lakewood Park on Riverside Dr. E and Manning Rd. Saturday.
Rohrer suffered a fatal heart attack in May of 2016.
Windsor Ward 8 Councillor Bill Marra lost his lifelong friend and he says there's still no better way to remember Rohrer.
"We took a very difficult and catastrophic loss and we're putting it to something important and we're going to honour Mike doing this," Marra says. "It's hard to look at his picture and not get sad, it's a little bitter sweet but we're doing the right thing for the right reasons and Mike is blessing us all today."
Last year's inaugural walk raised more than $22,000 for cardiac care in Windsor-Essex. Marra says this year's total will be released at a ceremony in the coming weeks.
Money from this year's walk will go towards a new cardiac clinic in Tecumseh.
