The nominees have been announced for the 14th annual Windsor Sports Persons of the Year awards.
Male and female athletes in 13 sports are represented along with the nine major awards such as Coach and Team of the Year.
Kristen Swiatoschik from Villanova is up for the Ed Jovanvski Hockey Award and for Female Athlete of the Year.

Daniel Hodare of Windsor Alpha Gymnastics Academy is a repeat nominee.

"I've been nominated both years and it's really exciting that they brought it in to the WESPY Awards and I think it's a great step and it's a really impressive sport"
Royal Church is on the nominating committee and says getting the categories down to just three nominees is not easy.
"Often times it's extremely difficult. When we sit down we have meetings that are two-and-a-half hours long, we have shall we say spirited discussions"
There are some special categories where the winner is named, Rosemary Smyth from Saints Volleyball is the Female Legacy Award winner.
Jerry Serviss, longtime Saints hockey coach is named the Unifor Local 444 and 2458 Male Legacy Award winner.
The awards banquet is April 15, 2019 at the Caboto Club.
