LaSalle town council is shelling out some cash for new gear at the Vollmer Complex Fitness Centre.
Close to $70,000 will be invested in the gym to replace aging machines and purchase new equipment.
Program Director Julie Turnbull says it's simply time for an overhaul.
"The Vollmer Complex is nearly ten years old so we're looking at some replacements for some of our equipment that's in disrepair or that needs to be replaced and some new equipment that needed to complete our circuit," says Turnbull.
She says part of the money will be used to add new machines to the gym.
"We have a variety of equipment for different equipment for different muscle groups and we're looking to be able to acquire a few more pieces like a hack-squat-machine that we currently don't have," says Turnbull.
After ten years, Turnbull says fixing old equipment becomes impossible.
"In 2012 we replaced some of our spin bikes but we're looking to replace five of our treadmills," says Turnbull. "It gets to the point, depending on the use, where we're not able to service them any longer.
The report brought to council indicates the new equipment will be purchased from National Fitness Products.
