Swimming at the pool at the Vollmer Complex in LaSalle is off the list for the next while.
The town is doing maintenance along with some upgrades and changes.
Starting August 26, the pool will remain closed until October 9.
It's one part of a $297,000 project that is aimed at making the facility more energy efficient.
Part of the cost is covered by an Ontario 150 grant of $100,000.
Mark Masonovich, Manager of Facilities for LaSalle says they wanted to upgrade the duct system.
"The ductwork didn't quite circulate the air as well as we'd like in the auditorium. So this new duct work will be able to do that."
He says they're upgrading some of the lighting to L.E.D as well.
"We're starting with the auditorium since it will be under construction anyway. So that will create some efficiencies and on top of that, in the dressing rooms for the arenas there's a new air handling unit that includes A/C which it didn't have before."
Masonovich adds, it's unfortunate, but they needed to shut down the pool for the project.
"All the ductwork is in the ceiling. So it has to come out and the work crew will be taking down, essentially, the entire ceiling area where we'll be replacing the ductwork in that space."
The lengthy closure will allow for repairs to the pool liner as well as general cleaning and painting.
While the Vollmer pool is closed, water walking, leisure swims, recreational swims and aqua fitness classes are being offered at the LaSalle outdoor pool until September 26 as long as the weather permits.
