A state-of-the-art splash pad is going to be added to the Vollmer Complex in LaSalle at a cost of $350,000.
LaSalle Councillor Crystal Meloche says residents have been asking for something like this for years. She says it's going to be a good fit.
"We selected the Vollmer as our location since that's where a lot of our families are during the summer months," says Meloche. "So, whether you're finishing playing a soccer game or a baseball game you're able to go over there and enjoy the splash pad as well and we've got the skate park there. We're continuing to develop that area and we really do believe that right now that's the right area for this."
Meloche says it has been in the works for quite some time.
"It's something that we've been saving for and looking forward to do in the Town of LaSalle," says Meloche. "We've done lots of big projects over the last few years. This is just something else that we're able to do for our residents and there's always more things in the future, but this was something they've been waiting for for a few years."
A grand opening for the new nautical themed splash pad is planned for the Canada Day weekend.
