Interior renovations are on the way for LaSalle's Vollmer Centre.
Council agreed to spend close to $195,000 for the work that will be done by Loaring Construction.
There are 10 improvements including an updated reception area, an auto flush system for the entire complex, upgrades to the security system, painting and changing the rubber flooring in the facility.
Mayor Ken Antaya says the upgrades shouldn't impact users.
"It's going to be some cosmetic work, but a lot of it has to do with some air circulation issues and things like that — so I think we're going to attend to it and we're protecting our investment for the community," says Antaya.
The work is expected to be completed by July 1st.
"We're pretty happy with the price, but we're also concerned — we wanted to make sure that we got this work going because, like our CAO indicated, if we didn't jump at this now we may have a delay that would take us into 2018," says Antaya. "We want to get it done now."
There are also some exterior upgrades being done, including brick and stone work.
Earlier this year, the town agreed to spend more than $84,000 for facade improvements. The building is almost 10 years old.
