Essex councillor Randy Voakes is reacting to council's decision to kick him off the Committee of Adjustment.
Voakes says there is no respect and no thought into the decision. He calls it ill fated and is disappointed council made the decision when he was not even at Tuesday night's regular council meeting.
Voakes says he informed the clerk that he was away on vacation and would not be at the meeting.
He says he will be attending the Committee of Adjustments meeting on July 18.
"I'm going to make it very clear to councillors, as a member of that Committee of Adjustments we have a meeting on July 18th and they need to know this, I will be resuming my chair," says Voakes. "I will be resuming my Committee of Adjustments chair that they took me from."
Voakes says he has been on the committee for three out of his four terms and has only missed three meetings.
As heard on AM800 News on Wednesday, councillor Larry Snively brought forward the motion to remove Voakes from the committee. It was unanimously backed by council.
Snively says he brought forward his motion because Voakes has been missing from the last three meetings without giving any notice.
Councillor Sherry Bondy will replace Voakes on the committee.
