The Association of Municipalities Ontario (AMO) Conference gets under way Monday morning with a different look.
COVID-19 has forced the annual conference that brings municipal leaders and government officials together to go virtual.
Essex County Warden and Tecumseh Mayor Gary McNamara says attendance will be on par with the norm of roughly 1,200 delegates.
"The delivery is going to be a little different no doubt, but content is going to be no different than if we were in Ottawa," he says.
McNamara says many of conversations over coffee between meetings are the most productive.
"Side bar meetings with peers and so forth, that's going to be a little bit different this year and certainly missed by many," added McNamara.
He expects COVID-19 to be a big part of the conversation, but not the only focus.
"There will be some sessions that are recovery pieces ... but a lot of it is going to be infrastructure and the need for us moving all our municipalities in the economic recovery," he says.
The conference runs until Friday evening.
