A local catholic high school is being recognized with a Gold EcoSchool certificate from Ontario EcoSchools.
St. Thomas of Villanova is the only school in the board to receive the honour.
It recognizes environmentally friendly initiatives over the past 20 years such as a living science lab exposing students to animals and biomes from around the world.
Students also participated in the River Canard cleanup, took part in a Savannah restoration program at Point Pelee and created a one-acre butterfly preserve on school property.
