Viking cruise ships are coming to Windsor-Essex.
The passenger cruise company will begin sailing the Great Lakes in 2022.
Speaking on AM800's the Afternoon News, Executive Director of the Great Lakes Cruising Coalition Stephen Burnett says this has been years in the making.
He says cruise lines make a stop in the region already, but a Viking cruise ship is brings it to a new level.
"We have about seven or eight ships, eight ships I believe, that are cruising regularly in the Great Lakes during the summer so that's basically May to October, but our target has always been to try and attract a cruise line with the stature of Viking," says Burnett.
Burnett adds this is huge for Great Lakes communities.
"The Viking are coming and they will expand and I am sure eventually Windsor with its marvelous attractions will be a destination," he says.
The cruise ship will carry over 370 guests.
