Police tape remains up at a south Windsor trailer park following a police shooting Sunday night.
Around 6pm, officers were called to Bonita St., just off Division Rd. in Windsor for a domestic incident.
A 49-year-old man was shot. Both officers had fired their guns.
Christina, who didn't want her last name released, was visiting her boyfriend at the park when she heard multiple shots.
"I heard about 5-6 shots," she says. "Bad things happen in the park all the time because it is Windsor, it is the area, but we have never heard gunshots go off like that before."
She says even before the shooting, officers had been investigating an incident involving a stolen van in the park.
She doesn't believe the two incidents are related, but admits it was scary to see all the police there.
"The cops wouldn't just shoot anyone, you know what I mean, because there was a gun, he did have a rifle," says Christina.
The shooting victim was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
This is the second shooting involving Windsor police this year.
On March 21, 2018, Matthew Mahoney was shot and killed by Windsor police outside of the McDonald's on Wyandotte and Goyeau. The SIU continues to investigate.
