Windsor is looking for public input on its Housing and Homelessness Plan.
The first ten-year plan was implemented in 2014 and must be reviewed every five years.
Executive Director of Housing and Children's Services, Debbie Cercone says to date 45 of the 63 strategies in the plan have been implemented, but she admits the problem is getting worse.
"We have increased housing supply, we have increased access to housing subsidies, we have implemented a new program to help people who are chronically homeless in our community, meaning they have experienced homelessness for more than six months at a time," she says.
Right now, there is a wait list for affordable housing of 5,000 and Cercone says in the past few months, families looking for affordable housing has skyrocketed by 70% alone.
But Cercone admits the problem is getting worse.
"We have done a lot of things but in the last couple of years the demand has increased, we have seen a high spike in demand for families."
The survey, found on the city website, asks people how the region can improve the issue and areas that need more support.
The input from the survey will be part of a report to council which is expected this spring.
The survey is open until February 10, 2019 and should take less than 10 minutes to complete.
