Some new Windsor police recruits made the final cut Thursday.
Ten new officers were sworn in at the Major F.A. Tilston Armoury and Police Training Centre in west-Windsor.
Sergeant Steve Betteridge says five cadets were apart of the Windsor Police Services Badge Presentation Ceremony and will head out into the community as peace officers.
"They actually rotate through a few different coach officers to get a lot of different perspectives and they'll develop their own way and turn out to be fine officers," he says. "I can tell you, from seeing them the last few weeks, they are excited and ready to start working on the streets and helping protect our city."
Five experienced officers have officially been welcomed onto the force as well, many of which are returning home, according to Betteridge.
"A lot of them have family ties and roots in our community. They wanted to come back and serve our community," says Betteridge. "They were able to apply and were successful, which means they're the best of the best of the candidates out there again. They're just gung-ho to start serving in our community again, and we're very excited to have them."
Close to 100 friends and family were on hand for the festivities overseen by Chief Al Fredrick.

Betteridge told AM800 News says the ceremony is an important part in the journey towards public service.
"It's a symbol of our dedication to service, our honour in service, and it's a symbol of their commitment," he says. "A police officer 24 hours a day, seven days a week, dedicated to protecting our community. To have their family and relatives here backing that and supporting that as a career is absolutely fantastic."
Betteridge says the veteran officers have been serving the community since June, the rookie class will hit the streets the first week of September.
