The Windsor Police Service is investigating another shooting in the city.
It happened around 1:45am Friday in the area of Ouellette Ave. and Maiden Lane.
A male in his 20's was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries and, at this time, no arrests have been made.
Constable Andrew Drouillard told AM800's The Morning Drive there's definitely been an uptick in gun violence.
"We like to look over long-term averages more than just short-term," says Drouillard. "We don't want to just sound the alarm, but it's definitely concerning."
He says a lot of these incidents are 'targeted incidents' involving people who known to each other.
"When we find that during the investigation we try to let the public know that to put them at ease a little bit," says Drouillard.
Investigators are appealing for witnesses to Friday's shooting to come forward, if they have not yet spoken to police.
There have been three fatal shootings so far in Windsor in 2018.
But it's hard to put a finger on exactly what's behind the recent increase in violence, according to Drouillard.
"There's a lot of different things we're facing in our community at this time, whether that be targeted incidents involving drug trafficking, whether it be mental health related, addiction, homelessness," he says. "All those things that are resulting in an increase in crime."
Windsor has also recorded nine murders so far this year.
